The Hauer Ranch has been a popular movie destination because of its classic American West landscape. Sandstone formations, towering cliffs, broad vistas and the Colorado River set the stage for the quintessential cowboy movie. Structures on the ranch have been made to look like Old West buildings, with classic board-and-batten materials and boardwalk porches.

“Dave and I are still talking about our wonderful adventure at your Back Country Mules ranch. As long time horse owners, but first time mule riders, we were amazed by the mules’ agility as we rode up to 11,000 ft. in the cool La Sal Mountains. We quickly learned that the mules knew their job and our job was to relax and let them do it. Long before the end of our eight hour ride we had come to admire their trustworthiness and natural affection for their rider. As an added bonus every morning we sat on the front porch of our guest house drinking coffee as we gazed out at the breathtaking beauty of the ranch’s rugged red mountains, listened to the flow of the Colorado River and felt like we were in the middle of a John Wayne movie! Your hospitality made us feel like long time friends and we are looking forward to making the journey to Moab and the Back Country Mules ranch an annual event. Give Red and Frances a carrot and a hug from us and we’ll see them next year!”

We are just come back to France. Our travel in USA was wonderful, after Moab we went to Page, to Zion Park and to Las Vegas. But for me the ride we’ve done in Moab stays one of my best memories. Thank you so much for this fabulous time, and I hope I’ll be able to come back to see you.
